NJILOA Do’s and Don’t(s):
- The referee should contact the umpire the day before the game to discuss the time and place to meet and perform their pre-game.
- If the umpire does not receive a call from the referee, the umpire should call the referee and report the incident to the NJILOA assignor.
- Both the referee and the umpire will call the home school the day before the game, and confirm the time and location of the game(s).
- If weather is an issue, contact the home school’s AD one hour prior to departing for the game.
- Officials must be ready and on the field 20 munutes prior to the scheduled game time.
- All assignments or game changes must come from the NJILOA Assignor or one of his designated re-assignors.
- Under no circumstance should an official accept assignments or game changes from athletic directors, coaches or other officials.
- Priorities - Varsity and JV assignments take precedence over freshman and junior league games.
- If the assignor or re-assignor contacts you and you are available or scheduled to do junior games, you are obligated to take the high school assignment.
- Be careful with turning back assignments. This may work against you later in the year.
